The PV-EIS Task Force has developed the Guide for PV Equipment Communication Interfaces (PVECI) and proposed it as the new connectivity standard for PV manufacturing. The guide "describes how to integrate process, automation and metrology equipment in the PV manufacturing environment. It contains a number of restrictions and clarifications that should simplify the application of SECS/GEM compared to the original version used in semiconductor manufacturing.[Photovoltaics International, PV102-07_04]"
The document has been submitted for balloting and is expected to be available as an approved SEMI standard in 2009.
